Now Fergies national anthem better be #3 :whitney:

Definitely my favorite. Not for the good reasons but one of the best regardless.:ororomunroe: You just don’t spend such a great moment watching a good singer sing

Jennifer Hudson’s Super Bowl National Anthem takes #1 for me, personally.

I prefer her "home for the gay" version to her superbowl rendition

Her vocals were also better for that version in my opinion. Love that one

DESTROY UR DISEASE

Still thinking about that comment under Fergie's rendition saying they had to search for Gaga's version in order to clean their ears after listening to that abomination :ladyhaha:

Because it's widely known by now that Whitney lipsynced her version, I don't know why it's frequently still cited as the best. It's like it has to be #1 by default purely because it's Whitney, aka, vocal powerhouse so it must be the best? Gaga's version wasn't just live, it was perfect vocally but she didn't overdo it and she made it different by adding in an additional "the brave" at the end timed for the planes flying over. Don't know if she was the first to do that (which is even more awesome if that's the case) but she was certainly the first I saw do that. It was also this rendition that made the NFL decide to take the risk on her by letting her do the halftime show the next year.

I would like to also point out that the only deciding factor between Gaga and Whitney’s version is simply the political state of the US at the time of Whitney’s rendition. Not to mention the fact Gaga’s was actually live.

But I’ll take second (which is really first tbh)

Im willing to bet most people with an opinion om this have not actually seen every performance of it :enigma:

As I said above I think it also comes down to the political state of the US when she sang it the Gulf War was ongoing. Whitney’s meant more culturally at the time for the country.

I mean her rendition is basically the version people like Gaga imitate every year they sing it. Sure it wasn’t live but at least it was in one take though.

Ironically I don’t even know the UK national anthem but I do know the US one BECAUSE of this :laughga:

For me uk Is rule brittania with all the rrrrr's. And then Land of Hope and glory by elgar

But the states have a phenomal hymn. I couldnt sing God save the Queen on Memory even if you paid me a million bucks. Don't Remember a note of It.

I mean… I’m not American so I don’t know any of them really. But despite not being American most people I know can remember or have heard about Whitney and Gaga’s renditions. Before Gaga’s I only knew Whitney’s exclusively.

We kind of have multiple “national anthems” because we have Rule Britannia, God Save The King/Queen and kind of Auld Lang Syne.

ALS is more of a new years tradition though in the UK. But I guess it’s TECHNICALLY close to being the Scottish national anthem.

Well yes. Pretty much exactly that because it's the truth.

Even if it was lipped at the game, that's still her voice, and it sounded better than anyone else who has done it. If she did it live right there in the stadium, it'd still be the best.

I don't care for Whitney's music (like at all actually bar one song) and even I can tell you she has the greatest voice of anyone who isn't an opera sing in history and her version, lipped or not, far outpaces anyone else who has ever done it.
