DC is in a bad state right now, James Gunn has taken over as head of the studio and has been making horrendous creative decisions. Although Marvel has had it’s teething problems over the last 6 years or so, they still had a proven track record, have still had great and massively acclaimed movies since 2008 and have got 2 massively anticipated movies coming most likely to make $1b and break records (3 if we include the forthcoming Spider-Man movie). They also are the only superhero movies bar Joker to get Oscar nominated.

DC has failed attempts at the Marvel formula and has too many off shoots of their property. For example Joker wasn’t in the same canon or creative direction as The Batman and those aren't also in the same direction or universe as Superman or SuperGirl. But Matt Reeves refuses to join his Batman universe with Gunn’s primary canon.

If she DID want longevity in a superhero movie and a basically guaranteed pay out and some form of success, Marvel is the only option really. 

People say things about superhero fatigue for instance, but Marvel alone has 3 movies on track to make as much as if not more than the Avatar movies (again) and even surpass their own record breaking numbers. Marvel will then have 5 of the entire top 10 most financially successful movies on history.

PLUS X-Men is highly anticipated by fans and non-fans alike. It’s basically gonna be a factory reset and create a new pathway for the company. Gaga would be a great addition I think.

Superhero movies are a dying thing. This could be the nail in the coffin after playing Harley too.

She should be in Tarantino's final movie, they know each other and he was one of the only people not trashing on Joker 2 so he's seen her acting

I'm really not psyched about the rumours of her joining AHS or X-Men, both are very washed... Hopefully they're not true. However, if we get another Mayhem-like pop era I can't complain. I've grown to really care about her acting ventures though, it sets apart from her pop contemporaries, so I'd prefer if she didn't make bad decisions especially after J:FAD. TDWP2 was cute and a good move, but she shouldn't lean into pop star commodity roles given how acclaimed her acting actually is.

DC is doing fine? Superman was great, penguin was great, last Batman was great. Supergirl flopped but I heard it wasn’t a bad movie. Joker flopped but the first did well. It sounds like it’s just generally going alright. It’s got promise and keeping things separate is genius so creatives can actually make something creative and potentially resonant! IMO marvel is in WAY worse shape bc optically it’s associated with corporate sludgy crap atp. It’s seen as visionless, overly produced, anti art, etc.

ideally she’d touch neither again imo but I think marvel is just in the toilet rn and outside of its very hard fans it’s time has passed and it’s basically a punchline for absolute dogsh*t movies for manchildren. Ga does not need that association after Joker Fully a Dud.

i get you’re clearly a fan of marvel, but no they are not acclaimed, never have been (at best they’ve gotten decent reviews) nor even remotely seen as worthwhile rn

Honestly same. I feel it's a perfect role in that it's very Gaga, small so won't take up too much time/attention, the movie shouldn't flop,... But Mayhem was exactly what she needed in her career and I'd rather she focus all her creative energy on continuing from that. I want this to be a new gear in creativity rather than just a one off. I'm also just not excited about movies since she kind of already conquered it with a hit movie and Oscar.

They can get away with it with "it's another universe" when Emma was born in the 80s and a peer or Xavier.

I honestly would be happy to see her in another role, like Krakoa's Moira, like imagine they would reset the MCU by simply killing Moira, it would be one of the most iconic cinema moments of all time.

But my biggest wish is that the new Xavier will not be in a wheelchair, the last time he was in the comics was in 2018, and before that occasionally he was able to walk many times before they came back to the status quo, but since 2018 they avoided the wheelchair because it limited the storytelling too much.

Depending on her schedule, some of these smaller roles might generate huge publicity without overwhelming her other projects. She'll also be seen as a more versatile actress who's not fixated on serious Oscar-baity roles which seemed to be her early trajectory.

When she starts honing down on a serious Oscar role later, it might lend her more credibility.

I just don't think she needs it but if she wants to do it she really should go for it. I trust her to follow her artistic instinct and I know we will get some good stuff if she follows that rather than chasing clout or trends or an oscar
