There's just something about the edge of glory I find so tender. We really don't know what's going to happen in our lives; to be human is beautiful and scary and fascinating and challenging and rewarding and unpredictable all at once. And to think it could, has, and always will just end in an instant. What happens next is a question that can never truly be answered, and what's a more perfect way to celebrate our time here than dancing through it and doing our best to surround ourselves with people who see us, know us, and wish to dance with us. 

Outside of the sentiment, the fact that it's on born this way adds value to it. As does the song (and album for that matter) ending on the slowing heartbeat. It could not be a more perfect closing track. Especially factoring in the story behind how it came to her with her grandpa's passing. 

Also, I will never, ever, ever tire of hearing her play it on the piano. It hits so much harder that way. Some of the speeches she's given before and during the song are perfect examples of how the message of it all goes well above and beyond the song itself. Particularly when she spoke about Sonja in Boston during the JWT in 2017. At the end of the day it's simply a reminder of the fragility of being human, and how that's ultimately a gift and what makes this whole crazy thing we call life so beautiful. 

This song is so very special to me. Will forever be grateful she wrote this one.
