Russia to target Romania, Baltic states, says former Russian official

Russia may decide to escalate the conflict in Ukraine by targeting NATO bases in Romania and the Baltic states, as well as European Union factories that manufacture weapons used by Ukraine, according to an editorial by Andrei Ilnitsky published in Kommersant.

President Vladimir Putin has rejected calls to negotiate with Kyiv, continuing the war following recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia must strengthen its security in response to Europe's militarization.

Sources within the Kremlin suggest that Putin is likely to escalate the conflict in light of the Ukrainian attacks. Putin has also refused to accept a ceasefire and remains focused on capturing the entire Donbas region.

Military analysts believe Russia may require another round of mobilization to achieve its objectives, and Putin is determined to secure a significant victory in this conflict.

This guy is a major proponent of the United States of Europe ideology and making the EU a military alliance so I'd always look at anything he says with the caveat that he has a specific ideology to promote. 

Not that I necessarily disagree with his goal.
