I just watched the HBO Monster Ball recording and thought to myself, I wonder how many other weirdos ever come back to old recordings?

Truthfully, I only do every once in a while. But also, what a travesty that the interludes got cut in the HBO special; I still have wet dreams thinking about the countdown into Finally x DITD. And also, rewatching this tour made me realize just how absolutely incredible the MAYHEM Ball was. Truly her best tour.

Ever? Sure I do

I even downloaded The Monster Ball HBO special from GagaMediaArchives (back when the site was still working) so I could watch it whenever I want :trollga:

Every once in a while I come back and watch them

Where do you guys watch BTWB and JWT in full? I know there's a few youtube videos, but most of them are tragic lol

I have watched The Fame Ball recently and boy, she really had that star power right from the start!

Not only from Gaga, but from other artists too. I also play old live vinyl recordings from classic concerts and tours. It gives you a great perspective on how touring technology has evolved since the big arena tours of the 1980s, how audiences have changed (no phones, much more interaction with the show), and how artists became true touring powerhouses through the creative use of special effects, stage props, and production.

There’s great value in those vintage tours. Modern artists should revisit them and bring some of those ideas back into today’s live shows.

Live Tour Documentaries might unironically be my favorite film genre … I just found the HBO Monster Ball DVD on a random room sweep the other week, and wow—a moment … I think I was at the … second night they filmed for that one ? Back in the way day, when I was in uni, I ended up at the I‘m Going to Tell You a Secret premiere for Madge‘s Re-Invention Tour at Lincoln Center … there was a guy who was waiting for his friend by the press pit off the red carpet , but he only had one ticket so he asked if I wanted it, since they couldn‘t both attend … I thought it was a fake, but the ushers kept directing me to the seating, so, it was real and the documentary itself really elevated the sense of what a tour could capture more comprehensively … I also deeply appreciate Kylie Min‘s allegiance to documenting her tours, it sets a standard that it can be done … but/and/so thanks for the thread, definitely a worthwhile rewind remind

Honestly, I hate watching series and don't have any one of the streaming services. But if there would be a concert streaming service I'd subscribe so hard
