Mark Carney Admits Under His Government Emissions To Drop Slower Than Under Trudeau

Canadas Prime Minister Mark Carney has made it clear building Canada back to prosperity by getting Canada to build again and move faster on projects and lower red tape, and improving affordability is top priority in his economic agenda.

 

In this video he openly admits that the emissions will be higher under his Government than they would have been under the previous Government (under Trudeau)

It is worth Noting that despite some roll backs, Canada remains the ONLY major Oil and Gas producer/exporter with a Carbon Tax, and overall environmental standards. Compared to its peers in Middle East, USA & Russia, environmental standards still remain much stricter in Canada

 

Still, Canada has eased those standards. Mark Carney also notably rolled back ambitious EV sales targets on grounds that between cost and lacking infrastructure the demand was not realistically string enough to meet those targets.

 

Still Carney is at least strongly in favour of green energy and generally opposed to building emission generating sources of electricity with Nuclear, Wind and Solar his preffered investment for Nation building

Im gonna be controversial here cuz I know environemnt is so important but im sorry...

 

Trudeau was kind if a loouf with half of his plans. He madated these super high EV sales into law (as a percentage of new sales) even tho he did not ensure a plan to go with it to make sure adequate infrastructure to charge them existed so that people not fortunate enough to own their own home/garage in suburbs could actually own them and still charge them.

 

Some of the Carbon taxes were also quite punishingly high with little to no offsets for them (especially on the industrial side, although on the consumer side there was some rebate)

 

He also wanted to phase out the fossil fuel sector (admirable on its own) but failed miserably to grow any other sector enough to offset the economic losses in fossil fuels so its not surprising so many ppl soured on this and now view improving environmental performance as automatically bad for economy (instead of 2 goals that can co-exist at once if done right)

 

While what Carney is doing may on the surface seem bad (in some ways it is)... Trudeau left an unbalanced economic mess and badly thought out plans that need some major recalibration now

And now the alternative from Carney is short-termism with badly thought out plans that will leave an unbalanced economic mess. 

He's just making things worse rather than fixing the issues. He's actively choosing to contribute to issues that will put the Canadian economy in the same spot in 10/15 years time.

Yeah, were not making true investments for the future or trying our hardest to grow the tech industries of the future or staying as competitive as possible in any manufacturing we are competitive in.

 

Hes also talked a lot about lowering inter provincial barriers and red tape to improve entrepreneurship in Canada (which is at laughably low levels) but in practice is a lot harder to do than it sounds to actually meaningfully change because so much is up to the Provinces

 

But tbh, I think hes still doing better than Trudeau. At least hes trying to rollback some of the excessive beaureocracy on major National Projects that cross multiple provinces and hes rolling back policies that were implemented in a way that doesnt work

 

For now its damage control of the past. Hopefully soon he can put more focus on true long term investments cuz Conservative Pierre Poilievre is a dumb ass and I dont really think the NDP will put us in a good position either...

 

I wish we could be more socialist but close integration and competition with the USA means our higher taxes and regulations as they are already make us less competitive in some Industries, thats an unfortunate reality. I fear the NDP would make Canada uninvestible from a North American perspective. Its easier to pull it off in EU because all of your neighbours do the same so its kinda all relative
