Apparently, “artistic direction” means every song on the album sounds alike. Huh!

ironically I find the first half of the album far more sonically diverse than the second half :triggered:

Honestly, it is. Everything post TDD is largely 70s/80s pastiche. I still love those songs, but the first half of the album still mops the floor with the back half.

Ye I still love them to, and it all works. I just wish the album landed on a couple of undeniable bangers to properly finish it off. The Beast and BOG are good but I think this album is asking for a bigger climax before the lush DWAS afterglow.

warhol killah

making Do What U Want a duet instead of a solo record. The song works on it's own (+ a remix track w Christina) and if it became a single we could have had +1 music video for ARTPOP.

this one is not a thing she never did, I wished she filmed more music videos, or make short films again, OR make a visual album.

Westfield in 2021. By her standards she was singing poorly back then and a whole hour of it was hard to listen to.

OMG yes I listened to the Orange Coloured Sky performance from that and had to turn it down and almost closed it because my ears were hurting:saladga:

I mean, I kinda get it but at the same time, Born This Way talks about who you are and not what you look like.

The songs says "you're black, white, beige, chola descent" not "your nose's too big you little bitch"

Yes, that’s why I said I DO feel like she was being genuine, but I feel like, to me, it comes across as a little hypocritical. Everyone’s beautiful just the way god made you, but also, I’m rich and I’m going to augment my face so I stay young and beautiful.

I just feel she had an opportunity to do something powerful, and she cheapened it for me a bit with the face touch ups.

Plus it was such a slap in the face when she totally ignored CHromatica for the majority of the time, but did a whole Jazz show after people kept being like oh she's not doing live shows or preformances because of restrictions :ladyhaha:

I totally get what you mean. I’ve always felt conflicted about her tweaks too as obviously who tf cares what I have to say about what she does to her face, but at the same time it was disappointing to see her go from being an “unconventional” beauty who was absolutely at home in her own body to having the same LA face as every other famous woman her age.

But if I had to see my face photographed every day and be in the public eye, I can’t say I wouldn’t have a couple procedures on the things I’m insecure about, especially if everyone I interact with looks that way too :messga:

Honestly, one of the only things is using fillers… I know that sounds crazy, but I just think she was doing such a good job with the Born This Way, be yourself stuff, and it seemed so authentic. I still 100% think she means what she says, but when she started using fillers and stuff, I personally did lose a bit of respect for her in regards to that.

I just think she had such an opportunity to stand her ground, age gracefully, and inspire people to not chase these unrealistic expectations.

Its probably the only thing, as a fan, I’ve been genuinely kind of upset at her for.

She's a popstar at the end of a day and the media and people are brutal. I don't blame her one bit for any of it even if it goes against her message. The fact she is still as relevant as she is with how much she has battled with fame is a blessing for us fans.

She has such a weird habit of throwing the ballads at the end of the album like they've just been tacked on.

Her track list sequences always hold her albums back.
