princedeeblebleble 3,403
I voted for none Perfect illusion was perhaps the most punchy of them all, but it's vocally such a hard listen, I don't imagine a regular radio listener letting the song play without switching the station, but the video was cool. Million reasons is the least Gaga song ever, like absolutely any country bitch could have released it and it would have the same cultural impact, except it wouldn't have stolen the spot of like Marry the night during the Mayhem ball John Wayne could have been a really cool 1st single, buuuut it didn't serve the purpose of her softer reinvetion, especially considering the chaos of the vid, which I think was fan service since everyone was bitching at how meh the 1st two vids were. Ayo was kinda a good attempt to bring the era to life, its a fun and catchy song, but again like.. compare all of the above to Just dance, Bad romance and Born this way, they are such a non event, not iconic song. And itwas a recurring problem until Disease, which she paid dust to. But anyways, I wish she really rethought the album, put some great rock and roll songs like You and I or something in vain of Speechless or Wish you were here, and something as slick and timeless as idk Love story or Golden by Kylie to bring that americana fantasy.. and something as ridiculous as Lifetime to repair to get the countryfied Gaga to the rave.
AVeryGagaHolyDick 31,519
Perfect Illusion was a horrible choice. Diamond Heart would’ve been horrible too. John Wayne as well. A-YO or Million Reasons would’ve been perfect.
crazygato 589
JOHN WAYNE! A controversial / problemática male figure? check. crazy sounding pop song about a toxic/ bad romance? Check. a perfect video? Check. so the era shouldve gone like this: 1. John Wayne 2. A- Yo 3. Million Reasons 4. (maybe) Dance In Circles ft. someone
ItalianGuy 50
AYO should have been the lead. It was the perfect way to introduce the idea of the era in a digestible way. It wouldn’t have worked as a second or third. Then million reasons needed to be second. John Wayne third. Diamond Heart is amazing but the sound engineering is off, an issue with the album but most this song. Vocals are too front and not mixed with the instrument especially guitars. I think this would have made it slightly jarring on radio, though less than perfect illusion.
TEANUS 16,139
Perfect Illusion was the right choice, but left to die Its only live performances before the tour were an acoustic radio performance, dive bar performances, and a Japanese tv performance. They curiously skipped the VMAs and didn’t promote it heavily on streaming (or anything she released until The Cure really). She was sooooo promo sensitive during the Joanne era especially. The radio push, Snapchats, and music video released three weeks too late weren’t enough British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

John Wayne and it's video gained back alot of people that lost interest during the era though I'm shook Diamond Heart is winning, that would've performed worse than PI
Zombiecat 17,937 Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM imo 1 - John Wayne 2- MR 3 - Joanne or reverse order of that even
hoeslay 4,243 Posted yesterday at 02:56 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:56 AM I don’t think it would’ve been a hit but conceptually and sonically I do think Diamond Heart would’ve made most sense
HotLikeMexico 6,422 Posted yesterday at 04:38 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:38 AM (edited) I think Perfect Illusion was the right choice. I still stand by the fact that it is Gaga’s most polarizing single and the outlier in her entire choice of singles in her career. I think that’s why I really enjoy the song and have been relistening to it lately. I believe it was the perfect song to make both fans, critics and the GP be like WTF?! Alternatively, “Joanne” the song was the perfect send off for the era, but I also think it could’ve worked as the lead to segway into the idea of a stripped down Gaga That said, I do think AYO and Diamond Heart should’ve been singles at some point. And I know Hey Girl gets alot of **** but I wish we got a video with Florence. Oh well. Edited yesterday at 04:41 AM by HotLikeMexico
