Let’s be honest, most mainstream artists now make most of their money from touring and merch. With streaming, there is too much variety to stick with one artist. It’s not like back when a label would pay to have an artist song constantly play on radio and then the consumer would buy their song on iTunes and stream on YouTube. The reason Gaga is still doing good and artists like Bruno mars and Taylor is because they have a very strong core fanbase. Something that charli and Katy lack

I listened to them all and Charli’s was the only one I wouldn’t skip if played on shufffle. Watch it Burn is severely lacking the energy dictated by the lyrics and melody. Time of My Life…. Isn’t it. I’m real tired of Benson Boone singing beyond his range in a grating half scream, and the melody sounds odd. Specifically when he sings “I wish you came along” is weird

Benson Boones is kind of shocking to me. He released new music quick after he got massively successful to keep momentum, and he even changed his styling just a bit to keep us with what people were asking for, and he is still under performing. He has the same make up Taylor has where he can appeal to different kinds of people regardless of politics, personal identity, etc. I don't get it.

This has kinda always been the case. Artists are usually put in debt to produce the records and touring was the cash cow. Album sales usually paid off the production debt. At least that was my impression

He is not actually that successful, nothing went top 10 from his previous album for example, even though he did a lot of promo and payola

This is what I mean though. His album before that one was huge, but only one hit with Beautiful Things. I'm Here for Someone Else and Mystical Magical got a lot of promo and changed up his sound in terms of vocals, yet for some reason it did nothing to give him more success. It just feels weird.
