Kylie’s Tension Tour…

I wanted so badly to see her live but I couldn’t make it in person.  I just watched the tour documentary on Netflix and… I was floored at how corny and unexciting her performances were.    She also isn’t that great of a live vocalist… Am I crazy?

Yeah I agree with you. Ever since Tention, her performances and creativity has been bad. And shes one of my favorite artists that performs and does amazing tours.

The production was a little bare compared to her previous tours, but this tour was something you'd have to experience in the arena. The interaction, the vibe, the feeling. She didn't want a huge production, she wanted an intimate moment. She delivered. But yeah, compared to what she did before, it was a little less in that department.

9Well first thing, the Netflix version is the scaled down version of the show, sadly. When I went to London to see her it was generally a much bigger production with some better costumes. But also yea, in terms of stage production its perhaps her weakest tour, but the energy in the room was incredible.  Mainly she was on fire. And knowing that it's kind of a celebration your of her surviving cancer its all the more Powerful and the scaled downness of it all makes sense since she wanted to be present.

I have to say I was very sad to see how the tour looked once it started, a very minimalistic stage, no props whatsoever - compared to the production of Aphrodite and Golden. And you can do a lot even with a minimalistic stage, look at Ariana now!

She was never the greatest vocalist, but she is still holding up strong. And once the live album got released, I was sold. The production of the songs is great, and it all flows together so well. She said it herself that this was supposed to be a moment with the audience; she did not try to pretend she was a Greek goddess.

Let's just hope she will bring back the big guns for her anniversary tour next year.

If you watch the documentary, she went through another cancer treatment during Tension production and after, so I bet she just did not feel like letting herself to go through tremendous amounts of pressure. Going on a world tour is tiring enough. But I agree, I miss it a bit too...

Kylie did great but I agree that it was one of her least inspired shows in terms of visuals.

As for her vocals: her voice has become quite a bit more thin over the past decade or so, which is normal with age and especially considering her illness. Considering all that, she's holding up great and I love that she doesn't resort to lipsyncing our loud backing tracks.

She's still one if the greats

There's a reason why the tour production was minimalist. She had a significantly smaller budget than previous tours and there were even rumours she self financed parts of it. Although tbf, Aphrodite was the last time she had a large scale budget for touring.

tbh one reason why I never went to see her live was her vocals, I love her to death, but she's not so great live, actually, sometimes her live singing is really disturbing lol

Yeah the few clips of the show I've seen seemed a bit low budget so I never bothered watching the tour on Netflix even though I love Kylie sooo much.

Anyways let me take this opportunity to say that the Aphrodite tour was fantastic and I still listen to the live album on a regular basis. So so so good!
