It’s not really, tho. The “rock music” thing was basically a meme/trolling. At most, I’d say it’s a 00s-10s indie pop/rock inspired record w/ hints of electro clash.

I mean it’s boring regardless. This doesn’t have the substance than many indie rock from those years had. It feels like bad cosplay.

I’m really not sure what she’s trying to convey here but I feel like everything she has said about this album the last one did it so much better, it’s like she’s having an identity crisis after the overwhelming success of Brat

Didn’t say it was good music, was just explaining that the point of comparison to rock wasn’t entirely relevant.

Ngl feels like you’re being a little obtuse about the aesthetic choices lmao. You’re entitled to dislike it (I’m not crazy about it either), but critiquing the choice of the era of rock she’s dabbling in as if the whole sound (rock influence aside) isn’t just an homage to 2007 NYC indie doesn’t really feel like a relevant criticism lmao.

The songs and the era she picked are boring. The era she picked for inspiration is forgettable and it feels like she barely knows anything about it’s anyway. In general it feels like Charli has no idea what the hell she’s doing right now and it’s like she gravitated towards this in a desperate attempt to connect to something deep after she realized she may never be able to replicate the success Brat had. This is like her Joanne but far worse
