The “rock music” thing was basically a meme/trolling. At most, I’d say it’s a 00s-10s indie pop/rock inspired record w/ hints of electro clash. ThisGuyTony 34,488
I hate the 2 min length songs. Probably the worst of the 3 songs so far tbh.

Literally nothing about this sounds like it's made to be huge on streaming or become a trend bfr Soft, soothing, and succulent

It feels like bad cosplay. I’m really not sure what she’s trying to convey here but I feel like everything she has said about this album the last one did it so much better, it’s like she’s having an identity crisis after the overwhelming success of Brat

Ngl feels like you’re being a little obtuse about the aesthetic choices lmao. You’re entitled to dislike it (I’m not crazy about it either), but critiquing the choice of the era of rock she’s dabbling in as if the whole sound (rock influence aside) isn’t just an homage to 2007 NYC indie doesn’t really feel like a relevant criticism lmao. It’s my opinion. To me it is relevant and I don’t really care if you think I’m being obtuse lol The songs and the era she picked are boring. The era she picked for inspiration is forgettable and it feels like she barely knows anything about it’s anyway. In general it feels like Charli has no idea what the hell she’s doing right now and it’s like she gravitated towards this in a desperate attempt to connect to something deep after she realized she may never be able to replicate the success Brat had. This is like her Joanne but far worse

NUTELLA 25,832
As a whole, the song is boring But the chorus is deceptively catchy I like how she harmonizes(?) with her own higher-pitched voice during parts of it
AVeryGagaHolyDick 31,546
I don’t think it’s bad My first reaction was “what the actual hell” (like everyone else, I guess?) but the video is well done and the song’s kinda okay. Windowlicker 3,759
None of this era is likely to click if you didn't already live through the era/aren't aware of the references she's pulling from. "Wink Wink" in particular is clearly an homage to "Homecoming" by The Teenagers, which is an indie classic 1

Tbf, from a brit perspective. I remember that era of indie rock being called the landfill indie era in the UK music media lol Its what paved the way for the pop girl takeover of 2008 to 2012.
