Recycling is normal in pop music. There are a limited amount of chords. Madonna's hypocrisy was to insult Gaga's legacy with that... Because there are more charges against her than any current popstars that her fans call "copycats".

Add to this, the fact that many "copycats" accusations against Gaga was toward her fashion style and not even her music lol.

That’s basically how I feel about Madonna’s fans + to a lesser degree Madonna herself: she’s pretty famously copped sounds and styles from other artists (often pretty blatantly) so the idea that she or her fans would be in any position to come for Gaga for that is pretty laughable (and I say that as Madonna fan)

Yeah exactly but the way they tried to compare Perfect Illusion and Papa Don’t Preach for similar chords that you can hear in many songs is ridiculous.

They mostly attacked Gaga for her style. Musically, the ressemblances are very light. She use a religious imagery and worked with collaborators of Madonna. That’s all. As if Jean Paul Gaultier or Steven Klein belongs to Madonna.
