It sorta exists. Investors are celebrating, but they have to do an extra risky step to actually use this money to buy ferraris and mansions in SF… and that’s kinda why the stock is tanking. It’s a race to see who can cash out first.

It’s very dumb and confusing but no it’s not like he’s scrooge mcduck and can swim in pools of cash. It’s still atrocious tho

By the way you might be looking at that 998billion and thinking "wow he's so close to a trillion, just a tiny bit off." Wrong.

That's a difference of two-thousand-millions

Two THOUSAND, million

But the fact that one singular person has 998-thousand-million to their name, one person, is so infuriatingly evil and disgusting and abhorrent that I can't even think of words to explain it

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Not really. All that a number like this in one person's bank account does is effectively limits the rest of us and our lives and prevents us from having more of a share to our own names. That one person has unlimited power to to absolutely anything they could imagine with no limits, while the rest of us decide whether we can afford the simplest of pleasures in life

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

It's speculative basically.

Stock market prices generally (these days) aren't the real monetary value of a company in terms of supplies/land etc.
They are basically what the market thinks the company is worth in terms of its profit/loss margins & potential for wealth generation.

And in the case of SpaceX, which is loss making, the stock price is essentially just investors experiencing mass-psychosis and betting on making a massive payday if SpaceX succeeds.
The downturn in price we're seeing is the rampant excess of the market being walked back slightly from it's Day 0 price on listing when everyone was desperate to grab a share.
