I think she’s being completely sincere, tbh. She always spoke pretty fondly of Gaga in interviews and always seemed to want to connect/collab and Gaga never seemed interested (at least that’s how I saw it)

It’s so bizarre because NOTHING about Katy’s work in her ENTIRE career has ever been sophisticated or have any thoughtfulness behind it. TACKY and CAMPY always was and still IS her aesthetic so this tweet never made sense 

Katy’s whole BRAND is TACKY and cheap 

 

I could ALMOST understand if Katy Perry was a genuine artist like Lana Del Rey , or a genuine Christian artist for that matter, but she’s not

Because she quite literally sold her art out for mainstream success. I can’t blame her especially as a woman in the early 2000s and the false positive narrative that was being sold to girls who wanted to become starts in any light. Her music completely changed in its nature as soon as she signed a record deal and thats proof enough that she was never the mastermind behind her work. It wasn’t just a bigger budget, it was a near 360 from what she had previously released. Meanwhile artists like Gaga/Lana were literally performing songs on their debut or songs that could fit into their future discographies before they were officially signed.

It always came off as Mean Girl "fake-nice"

Only nice when she wants something. Or maybe I'm just biased, and reading into it what I now just expect from Katy. Both of them could just be tired and irritated and only have so much social energy left. Bus, club, 'nother club, n all that.
