gumzy3000 7,781
I don’t get how artists can’t do a proper signature 1000x? It can take an hour or 2 but you can just put the tv on in your 5 star hotel with the breathtaking view to make it less torturous… It’s not that hard trolly troll troll 3

LGAte 716
Honestly this is another reason capitalism just ruins ****. The whole point of getting an autographed vinyl back in the day was that you personally got the artist in the moment to sign your copy….and it was rare. Not to bash Gaga, but artists who do this are just bullshitting their fans with this. Mathematically it takes away from the value of these vinyls. Artistically it looks cheap. And marketing wise: it feels like a cheap trend. I can tell the industry is becoming increasingly pre-fabbed. every artist needs their own “challenge” on their tour evwry artist needs a presale for their tour where Ticketmaster can gouge every artist needs a viral TikTok dance every artist releases several bad singles before finally getting a decent hit because labels will not invest in a song but want to only invest when something has commercial value, (this is actually why the music video is dead) every artist needs to sign a whole bunch of vinyls even though it’s bad for the environment and incredibly forced every artist needs to have a sound to viral I feel like no one is making an era based primarily around the art, and then considering how to commercialize it. They are waiting for the commercial moment to hit and accidentally making dull bad eras because they are destroying all the good. We should all know by now a number one on the BBH100 or a song getting huge streams initially does not actually mean **** anymore. More than ever it’s all so forced. And this is why music feels so “meh” a lot of the times. There isn’t some secret bad thing that happened post-Covid. it’s actually quite simple. capitalism incentives profits and that creates big moments but not always great moments. Dollars do not equate to soul or connection. You can’t buy the communal feeling of everyone knowing the lyrics to Party in the USA, I Want it That Way, Single Ladies, or Judas. In the era of Taylor Swift where maximizing sales has become more important than maximizing art, we literally are creating this dissonance between what looks big on a spreadsheet and what feels big in the culture. which is why so many songs immediately go number one now. And so many that deserve to be number one- do not. These vinyls being ****-ass signed by mega artists is an accidental truth about the output of our times: here is this shiny unnecessary over-produced piece of plastic, and on its cover is an effortless signature from its creator who is rushing to make every consumer buy buy buy.
