Plenty of popstars release mediocre or trend-chasing songs. With Katy there's no recognizable identity or anything to separate her from her peers aside from legacy. Her innuendo and playfulness are not as effective on the hundredth time around. It makes every attempt to establish and "reinvent" herself feel half hearted and flippant.
