Artists nowadays are much more professional and backed by entire social media teams that didn't exist back in the day. Now it's more obvious that there is a team of professionals behind every post or content strategy, so platforms that don't drive direct growth (like Twitter, which is better for organic virality than direct promotion) are being sidelined for alternatives like Instagram, which rely much more heavily on direct engagement. I miss when the internet was about people connecting with each other in real time and not algorithms and self promotion and data mining.
