Now here we are in 2026 still bopping to it as a throwback of throwbacks 🤭 gosh I love Gaga… I feel like she has carried and continues to carry that unique spirit of the 70s/80s/90s into the 21st century….. I can see why, AND I definitely can see why some people compare both songs. To be fair, both have something that the other doesn’t. I’d say TEOG’s production is much more epic and specific to Gaga herself. VIY’s production could’ve been used by maaaaany other artists. On the other hand, I believe VIY will stand the test of time a way TEOG has not. I don’t know exactly what it is about it, but the latter has something in its instrumental that makes it a bit too heavy in 2026. My guess is that both the drums and bass synth in the chorus are loud but bottled in. It’s not too much in the verses cause there’s only a “subtle” sub bass, but the chorus has essentially two defining instruments (drums and bass) but both sound bottled in despite being loud, whereas VIY’s instrumental has a lot of “shiny” instruments, I don’t know how to word it right I truly think TEOG’s production would be absolutely perfect if the drums were mixed a slighly more abrasive way. It would sound more cutting, less like a weight. Sorry, I’m fully speaking yogurt right now. But for exemple, Marry The Night (which I consider TEOG’s sister for whatever reason) — the instrumental is messy af (in the best way), and it’s very busy with a very demo-like grit to its tone, BUT the way it’s all mixed makes it sound clear and modern imo. TEOG’s production is a million times less messy or demo-like, but sonically it’s just not as clear as MTN.
