Like A Prayer the song is dated

Holiday is her signature song imo

She's the GOAT for sexy entertainers

She's really not that bad of an actress.  Comedy she does very good: DSS, A League of their own, and Who's That Girl.  Also, that guest Will and Grace appearance

She became the legend she is in the 90s, not 80s

150%. IMO the 80s stuff is *cute*, but she didn’t really hit her stride until LAP

She's a queen without a kingdom, calling her queen of pop in 2026 is not only childish, but it's as equal as to call  Gaga the meat dress singer, what she did in the 80s and 90s is indeed remarkable, but since then many new people reshaped pop music and made a bigger impact even greater than hers.

Madame X will always be a bad album, no matter how many times people throws the words "experimental" "underrated" "you don't understand Mirwais" and try to convince themselves and others that it's a good album, it's simply not.

Isaac is a beautiful song, one of the peaks in her career, the haters are very particular people and hates it for one obvious reason.

Music album is underrated.

Doesn't Really Matter is not a good song.

She doesn't have good ballads.

Don't Cry For Me Juanita is meh.

Like A Virgin, Holiday and Material Girl didn't age well and they need a remastered version so badly.

Her artistry never really evolved, she's been doing the same thing over and over. the religion thing is not shocking anymore, the sex is boring, the dance moves are the same.

Loud, dumb and wrong :Cautious:

And if you think about the *albums* that are lasting or revisited, they’re all 90s onward. Like you said, the 80s was cute and dominating, for sure. But she found her voice so much more the next decade and her specific taste became more apparent

Are these just US figures?

Because since 1998, Guinness World Records have recognised her as the highest selling female artist globally. She's still unbeaten nearly 30 years on (although Taylor can't be far behind at this point).

She was the highest grossing female touring act from 2004 to 2023.

18 certified multiple platinum albums globally.

17 Golden Disc awards in Japan, she's also the record holder for most wins of the AOTY award there.

13 UK #1s, 24 Canadian #1s. Germany's chart company recognises her as the most successful singles artist in German chart history.

15 Top 10s on the UK chart since 2000 including 5 #1s.

In the US, Billboard in 2021 reported that she was the most successful solo artist in the chart's history. Second only to the Beatles.

She has 50 US Billboard Dance Chart #1s - the most number of #1s recorded by any artist on any Billboard chart to date.

Like we can absolutely recognise since 2008 onwards her output and performance has declined. But it requires blinkers or ignorance to suggest she's only had a few rogue successes since the 90s.

Just US numbers. I’m not doing the work to collect those stats across all markets, the US is the largest market accounting for 1/3 of music consumption; it’s by far the most statistically significant.

Again, I’m not disagreeing with her importance to music history - but I will say the Guinness stat isn’t a good one, considering she’s had 40 years collectively to accrue those numbers, and I don’t think her catalogue has the strength of Micheal Jackson, the Beatles, Queen or the Eagles where they can stay ahead of more modern artists as their records move enough to keep a slimmer margin between them and more modern artists. In fact; Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Taylor and Beyoncé may all have already surpassed her in claimed sales and Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Taylor, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Arianna Grande have all surpassed her in certified units sold.

was not really a fan, but I'm not a big fan of ballads in general

I was not thinking in music-wise, but more about visuals-wise.

Like there's always something with a cross in her concerts.. in the 80s, 90s, it would shock, it would make the Vatican go insane.. but in the 2020s? it's like yeah ok we already saw that. bless jesus I guess.

I think that’s if you think it’s always to shock. I think at a point the cross simply became a symbol of hers. It’s been there since her debut when she wore it was an earring. It wasn’t really an element of shock until a little later-on.

TEANUS

Idk if it’s an unpopular opinion but I’m Addicted is the best song on MDNA and should’ve been the lead single :firega:
