I see a bit more than that, even though yes they both were the “flop” eras haha. They both were themed around these ‘wider concepts’ and kinda all over the place. I find the futuristic vibes of the album shoots similar too. The tour costumes even had a similar vibe to me. Witness felt like Katy trying to be artistically progressive and it fell flat.

And her fans dare being nasty to Gaga while she is the director behind every new eras of this woman. She paves the way for her. She define her next marketing moves. 

But it feels like Katy is the demoniac twin of Gaga, the ones that burn everything she touches.

Katy was marketed as a pin-up, an Hollywood bimbo and anti-hero like the ones you see in 2000s comedies. And that’s it. She cannot embody fully the archetypes that Gaga can bc she is a shape-shifter... Katy's tarot is the fool. While Gaga's campiness is justified, hers is just corny and less calculated.

We know how awful Katy is as a human being. She don’t even bother hiding it. She litteraly caused the death of two people. She proudly expose how disconnected she is when she hangs out with Bezos... The way she betrayed Kesha while she was fighting for her freedom. It’s not like we're talking about a "problematic influencer"... She litteraly ruined lives and does tasteless music.
