JoJo appears to have been blindsided by the news that Broadway’s Chess is going to close in June, just two days before she was scheduled to join the cast.

The 35-year-old “Too Little, Too Late” singer was previously announced as the next Florence Vassy in the acclaimed musical, replacing Lea Michele after her final performance on June 21.

JoJo‘s casting was announced back in March and she was hyping up her Broadway return just one day ago on Instagram. On Monday (May 25), she shared footage from playing the Forever Mine Festival in Chicago, which she said was her “last show before I go into Chess. Very different worlds that I’m so lucky I get to inhabit.”

Now, after the news of her planned Broadway return being canceled, JoJo is speaking out.

Having the same problem as the concert industry, but with an increasingly shrinking target demographic. Economy is in the shitter, Broadway is niche, but ticket prices are still exorbitantly high.

Its interesting because the West End is doing significantly better and its not even like its tickets aren't high (although it does vary by show).
Like Cabaret was forced to close on Broadway because of high running costs & falling sales, yet the West End production is going from strength to strength and still regularly selling out.

I've been using Duolingo to get better at it lately. I've been smoking randos online but I can't get my ELO above 900 :partysick:
