I think you're all severely underestimating her and the political climate the country is in right now. Let's just take a look at some facts here:

• She's currently the front runner in the hypothetical 2028 primary beating out Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, and Kamala Harris.

• Progressive candidates are storming the nation lately, unseating or threatening not only moderate Democrats in primaries but Republicans in general elections in states that are categorized as tossups.

• For the midterms, we're legitimately talking about potential (although longshot) senate flips in states like Texas, Kansas, Louisiana, Iowa, and Nebraska which goes to show how wildly vulnerable and unpopular Republicans are right now.

• The current Republican president has a 20% approval rating among Independents. You don't come back from that.

• Marco Rubio leads the pack for Republicans in 2028, JD Vance and Ron DeSantis after that. DeSantis is a joke candidate at this point and Rubio and Vance are not only going to be subject to the "you can't win a Republican primary without sucking Trump off" thing, the utter failure of this administration will hang around their necks like nooses. The only way they stand a chance at gaining a plurality of independents is by carrying out a stark and unforgiving betrayal of Trump which would cost them the MAGA loyalty.

• AOC is incredibly popular among the Democratic voter base and her "working class first" approach will work with a plurality of independents if we manage to get her message to them through Republicans' fear mongering. And if there's one thing the current electorate is showing it's that they aren't interested in hearing Republicans' bullsh*t right now.

The tables have truly turned. Just a few years ago I would have agreed that we need a straight white man, totally safe and palatable to the masses, but now? I think that's the last thing we need.

A young, intelligent woman of color with a focus on the working class who has proven herself to be a movement leader? I say hell yeah.

But more realistically we're gonna be dealing with the same seven states all over again.

I could see this breaking down like this:

Which induces a kind of dread for watching election week results come in that will cause me stress ulcers and night terrors.

But it doesn't matter who we run as the candidate, that's the map. They need to win the rust belt and that's it. And Trump has destroyed farming and auto manufacturing with his tariffs and stupid war so any Democrat should be able to walk in with a name tag that says anything other than "Donald Trump" and take them.
