What an absolute BOP and one of the best songs on ARTPOP, it's one of my favs. I still listen to this version because I bought ARTPOP on iTunes when the album came out (as everyone should). The Christina version is just not good because their vocals blend together too much and the solo version is really nice but feels like something is missing. I think the song has a great message especially because of how the media were treating her in 2012/13 and talking about her at the time and I am very glad I got to see it live at the ARTrave when I did. Him being a terrible person doesn't negate how amazing this song is and I'm glad it exists.

I love this song but the fact that the lyrics are about private parties, that Gaga talks from the victim pov, R-Kelly from the wealthy freak and that there even was a performance of that...

I think the irony in the the meaning of the song vs what happened to the song is so undeniable. She should have re recorded it with a different male artist and re released it. That would have been a greater f you to r Kelly,  taking his verse from him and giving it so someone else just as it should have been from the get go. But instead she gave into pressure and the hate she was getting and fully retracted the song which is quite contradictory to the message of the song itself, and then tried to minimize the situation by saying she was in a twisted headspace and erase the song entirely, which the meaning behind the song itself was not bad in anyway, which kinda means the song was made in vain because she quite literally let the media dictate her voice and mind. 
 

update: I do believe people are allow to change their minds and don’t think she should have to stand by statements she made 7 years prior to the decision, but I’m just talking about the song itself, its meaning, and what happened later.
