I didn't mean to say Hatsune Miku is AI.  She would've supported any modern technology that popular at that time like Hatsune Miku. If AI were popular in 2013, she would've found a way to utilise it.

The technology behind Vocaloids has never been groundbreaking nor cutting edge. Its popularity was, and still is mainly due to the appeal of the characters associated with the tools.

Time. It will not wait, no matter how hard you hold on...

i doubt it, the main issue with gen AI is the fact it steals from existing artworks without artist's consent

that absolutely would have been an issue back then

You make a good point, I didn't consider that. I remember that being around the time that people were starting to care about artists' intellectual property

Definitely not Chappell Roan

Whether it's groundbreaking or not, we'll leave it to the tech nerds but it was very much popular and interesting for the general population.

Since the beginning of her career, she's embraced the intersection of art, music, and technology.

There is no intersection between art and generative AI though.

The former is the expression of human creativity, the latter is just meaningless media, not art at all.

I'm not saying that gen AI is art. I'm saying "art" more broadly. As in, she always combines art (visual arts, art movements, etc.), music (her own personal tastes & inspirations), and tech (newly emerging technologies) into whatever she creates.

That is completely false. Vocaloids are not AI.

They're like synths. Voice actors are hired to record every syllable and sound found in the japanese language, and it is these samples that are then assembled together, MANUALLY pitch shifted and modulated to create the singing.

My bad, I verified this and yup I was wrong.

It worked like sample exploitation. But there were already the use of  intelligent pitch and timbre automation. Not generative Ai yet.

My point was to prove that Ai existed a way before generative Ai and chatbots, but we used it as tools. It was used in video games, especially in the open-worlds (on this exemple I have no doubts).

In my peace era.
