Khia Asylum: your most and least favorite inmate?

Avril’s recent touring numbers definitely would make most of these girls jealous, but it’s heavily boosted by nostalgia and not because she continues to be at the forefront of pop music like my other girl is :iamfair:

Her solo streams also seem to out-do many of her contemporaries.

So my favorite is Avril. I guess I don’t have a single least favorite.

Why is Marina on there??? She sells out concer halls of 10.000 people right now, her last album was successful, she is AN ICON

I cannot be imparcial with Marina, because I love her so much and I've been a fan of her for more than a decade, so I would take her out of the Khia asylum.

it just means pop artists who are flopping

The original definition was a popstar who was once big and fell off so bad they can no longer get back to it. But now anybody who doesn’t manage to have a hit is considered a Khia. Katy Perry for example is the ultimate Khia.

For example, Bebe Rexha IS a khia because she used to have hit songs but now doesn’t. Charli used to have hits and now doesn’t (although that’s up for debate given how culturally big brat was).

Where as people like Slayyyter, Ava Max etc have never had hit single. Bjork had one and so did Robyn so I guess they’re Khia’s, same for Lana.

Charli Lana Robyn and Bjork make absolute  sense (although Charli is up for debate nowadays) because Charli’s last hit single was Boomclap, Lana’s was Sumertime Sadness (and a remix at that), Robyn’s was Dancing On my Own and Bjork’s was Oh So Quiet.

A khia is a popstar who had hits and has never been able to get another one again, not who is popular amongst gays

I just don’t get labeling cult pop stars or artists that don’t really aim for mainstream success “Khias.” I would only really give that label to someone like Ava or Bebe who are clearly trying to chart on the Hot 100 and are flopping (while simultaneously making bad music). However I couldn’t bring myself to call Charli, Slayyyter, Robyn, Caroline Polachek, Gorillaz, Jessie Ware, Lana, Björk, Mitski, or Poppy Khias because none of them are really gunning for conventional pop careers, have pretty devoted cult folllowings, and have all garnered a fair amount of critical success (and they also make good music).

I never said this was better than Shape. That being said, at least this song knows its lyrics are gibberish 😏

All her releases are brilliant 2bh, how she didn't blow up is insane, but I guess she's too much for this boiled chicken loving generation :ohwell:
