Controversiaga 15,274
I’m just trying to understand what about it that yall don’t like… I think it’s a great song! No, it’s not some epic anthematic BANGER- but neither is lovedrug or how bad do you want me. It is tame , but it’s still a great song and I think it’s got a catchy chord progression , great instrumental, I LOOOOOVE the high head voice “woooooooman” vocals !!! it’s way better than runway with that ugly car horn beeeeeeetch chorus Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
DESTROY UR DISEASE 19,106
Well the verses and the pre-chorus are absolutely promising The chorus is slightly underwhelming though Not that I hate it, I just don't like it that much Edited May 16 by DESTROY UR DISEASE I can smell your sickness I can... 4
Apec 223
I actually really like it, especially after looking up the lyrics. The almost-but-not-quite whispered sentences that almost grow and start bursting at the seams in the verses hype me up so much and give the song real texture. She's also doing things with her voice that make me think of her airier, breathier tones from when she just began, but evolved. "Like an old desire that you know too well (Back to eat you alive) Feedin' on the torture rollercoaster's hell (Visions conquer your mind) Melting in the heat of another lover (Stomp out, you're out of time) Spinnin' 'round in circles 'cause she rung your bell (Your bell, your bell)" And then the reveal of worshipping the Shape of a Certain Woman rings very true to me. People keep saying it goes nowhere meaning it misses a climax and it somewhat does (I really really get that complaint, it builds and builds...) but imho the exquisite lyrics make up for it plus I'm all for experimenting with traditional pop chord progessions/structure. Was it a total win? Maybe not, but I get a kick out of it personally nonetheless. God is truly in the Shape of a Woman (atheist saying this, lol). Leoooo 2,294
I personally enjoyed it, and for the first time in YEARS I heard a side of Gaga's voice I thought might be gone forever, so I'm even more excited to hear what she's cooking up now 2

anton 91
i love it. i dedicate it to trans women and especially to one of my poetess friend. i think the line 'i found god in the shape of a woman' makes sense, when you finally see her, when you understand you are a woman and when you get to accept it and fall in love with her/you.. This made me go from cheesy to godly in the way i perceive it now. Edited May 16 by anton 1
Ladle Ghoulash 48,847
Verses are a hot mess lyrically and melodically, chorus is fine (albeit repetitive), production is kinda flat compared to her more recent funk/disco output. LD and HBDUWM both clear it with ease, imo, in part because they’re rich with details and specificity that I think are missing on SOAW (rich explicit and implied harmonies and vocal layers, carefully crafted instrumentals, hooks on hooks etc.) Edited May 16 by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS 7 1

The song is not bad per say but then it doesnt really go anywhere and stays flat. Its kinda meh But then so is Runway. I think we need to accept these songs had a specific style and purpose for a fashion movie and its not gonna be a mainstream hit nor is it gonna be that likable to listen to on its own Ill be honest, Runway workes really well in the movie and the scenes and SOAW was fine. But listen to it outside the movie and its kind just meh That said, I love Glamerous Life Edited May 16 by Economy 1

gagzus 21,409
I love it personally, I feel like you can tell it’s actually written about the whole Lady vs Gaga discourse fans have been having. The ‘Shape’ of the woman we fell in love with being the idea of who we think she is as a persona. “Hurting in your soul because the lady’s gone / Had to keep you guessing for a little fun” Literally tells you everything about the song, it’s about how she won’t be defined. Hence why you can tell it’s written for Mayhem. Same for GL. Runway was clearly the only original song. Edited May 16 by gagzus 3 1
Bronco 22,944
Love the chorus & the vibe, the versus sounds like those nonsense ad libs folks do when writing songs to the beat but no one went back and actually wrote them up The gays know how to party 2 1
