Mark Carney Unveils $1 Trillion Electricity Plan, Environmental Compromise

Mark Carney Outlined a $1T energy plan (including private and tax payer dollars) to double the energy grid capacity to keep up with electrification in economy including AI and EV adoption while preventing costs from skyrocketing

Nuclear, Hydro Power, Geothermal and Wind will remain heavy on the mix however some environmentalists may not like a detail of the plan which is a roll back on some Natural Gas Power Plant restrictions

Canada has generally closed all Coal and Oil power plans but some Provinces still rely on Natural Gas for up to 1/4 of their power requirements. Under current laws and regulations, Natural Gas Plants are pushed to be used only during peak demand hours and intermitency periods from renewables like wind and solar which can be inconsistent in output, and shut off otherwise to minimize emmissions

Many have argued for years having entire power plants built that have to be shut off most of the day outside peak or intermitency fill ins is extrely coat innefective and raises cost of electricity for consumers. Though Carney has yet to explain in detail what the roll back on Natural Gas restrictions will be, its likely that its related to the shut off periods.
