Going back to the Las Culturistas interview, she talked a lot about the song around the 37:30 mark (depending on ads and whatever might vary). Highly recommend the podcast episode in general 🥰

I also personally read it as a direct message to the fans. Especially after the tour performance. 

Its the whole "do you want your mythical vision of Gaga or the Gaga in front of you".

I also just love seeing how the song grew on her as well over the course of the era. Starting from "I didn't even want to put it on the record", to her giving it such a special spot on tour and now this hauntingly beautiful version for Requiem. She even saved her voice for this performance to go full out, basically switching places with VIY

I definitely think that Rio rehearsal/impromtu show is what changed the song for her.

Try turning off Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio setting. 
Keep in mind that sound mixing for this movie isn't typical for live show. There's a lot of synths that are ment to be in front of her vocal.
