MAYHEM Requiem: Apple Music Live

Well, that was pretty incredible. I'm amazed she rearranged the entire album and put on a full show in the middle of a world tour. Much more interesting and original approach than a regular remix album, hopefully this is released physically at some point.

Instant highlights for me are Killah and Die With a Smile, I'm really not surprised these are the 2 performances that are being pushed in promo. I heard a lot of French electronic influence in the set overall, definitely gave Gesaffelstein / Kavinsky vibes, I'm wondering if this is any indication of where she's at musically atm. Also, it's about damn time she finally makes a record with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross... stop edging us and make it official!!!!!

Like she's largely producing again, the lyricism is top notch, and the looks are quintessential Gaga, whereas I felt like for most of Joanne she was cosplaying a regular gal and on Chromatica she was kind of a parody of Gaga. But everything from the Chromatica tour on seems very deliberate, thought out and something that nobody than Gaga could do. 

That's what I meant re: Chromatica the album. Even she admitted she wasn't sure she still had it. But everything from the CBT onwards and especially everything from Mayhem showed us she's still that incredibly fearless, intelligent, bold, ferocious, extremely talented  and all-around amazingly brilliant woman she was in her mid to late twenties.  And yes, Harlequin was also part of that package!

The stage was beautiful, I love those laser lights from the ceiling and the pianos/consoles all next to each other. Her outfits were perfect, I especially like the one with the veil and the one she wears during Die with A Smile.

All of the arrangements were great, I expected more from some (like Don't Call Tonight) and I was very pleasantly surprised by others like Disease, Zombieboy, Killah and DWAS. Disease especially might be better than the original which is already amazing, and I love to see that Gaga seems to love it too.

Though I must say I was mesmerized by her performance at the premiere, Disease and Abracadabra funeral versions?? Honestly fire

Is there one long video on Apple Music for this, like, as a show? I’m trying to watch on my TV but it’s stop/starting between the individual videos on the album which is jarring as hell!!

can i be honest? i prefer the opera house    am I missing something here but im trying to get into the performance, and its good dont get me wrong but its not hitting the same as when i watched Gagachella or Copagaga

I really dislike the vocoder in act II for Killah and Zombieboy, its annoying and i wanna hear her sing it and be eerie with her voice and not use that stuff

The concept behind all of this is so good.

Remember how the music video for Die With a Smile seemed random at the time, but they were obviously in some kind of nuclear testing or launch facility. And now, in the end, it feels like this takes place a few hundred years later, (after a nuclear war ?), with someone digging up and discovering the remnants of the Mayhem opera house.

She seems almost like a ghost or a hologram roaming through those ruins, and you can only hear fragments of the songs, as if they are distant memories and that's why they sound changed and not like the originals.
