Morphine Prince 109,683
After an Evangelical pastor presided over the unveiling of a golden statue of President Donald Trump at his Doral golf course last week, several Florida religious leaders are likening the homage to idolatry and a violation of the biblical prohibition against worshiping false idols. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Wednesday at Trump National Doral golf course in Doral, Trump’s spiritual advisor and Evangelical pastor John Mark Burns presented the 22-foot golden effigy alongside dozens of other religious leaders. The statue, worth $450,000, depicts Trump raising his right fist in a gesture similar to the moments after he survived the assassination attempt at a 2024 campaign rally. Creyk 18,668
Religion has always twisted itself to suit the needs of those in power. This is no different from that. At the end of the day it is about money power glory.
Kayioshka 3,347
The Christ would 100% disagree with Trump’s ideas and actions but okay lol He would probably just be on the side of the oppressed people no matter their beliefs, colors, genders, sexual orientation... And he would never appreciate to be associated to any political party since he is universal. He is a progressive figure. Funny how Trump pretend to be Christian. Probably under substances... Ilia Malinin 2,890
now i barely paid attention during catechism while getting baptised as lutheran (no longer my religion btw), but i'm pretty sure one of the ten commandments is "thou shalt not worship false idols" everyone keeps saying "oh, he's back, he's back!" but the truth is i never left! 2

HotLikeMexico 6,586
Wait isn’t that a sin tho? isn’t there literally a story in the bible where Moses literally get pissed off because they created a gold idol?

Having statues in general isn’t immediately idolatry but in this cause I would say probably

Ironically it’s the same story that introduces the Ten Commandments, the tablet he has when he comes down from the mountain to find his people started worshiping the golden calf. The same Ten Commandments Donald trump habitually violates along with most evangelicals in this country. Nevermind that they want them shoved into every school in the US despite not acknowledging
