If an artist was compensated fairly, they would be more than happy to do something like this for Lady Gaga lmao. Keep in mind that she’s bought and commissioned fashion pieces from small designers for something as banal as being photographed walking through an airport. That exposure and having that on your resume is a huge deal, regardless of whether or not the work was immediately recognizable to the GP. Not to mention that, if Gaga wants an elaborate visual to tease the announcement for her concert film, she has the money to pay someone to make it. If she doesn’t want to use her money that way, which is her right, she can opt for a countdown graphic or something else that she thinks is worthwhile without having to use AI.

Whether or not the video will be remembered or what it will achieve, is irrelevant to the terms of its production. It is creative content that people could have made to a similar degree, and it would've supported a creative industry that is already under pressure these days.

You say not every artist would be pleased to do it, but I'm 100% sure that thousands of talented artists would jump for joy if Apple and/or Lady Gaga came knocking on their door - no matter the size of the project and no matter how much they would be paid. It's what she has done many times in the past (especially in terms of small fashion designers).

You're right on one front: Gaga for sure has the right to use AI, but as I said, that would undercut A LOT of her previous statements about creativity and art. Which is why people are so baffled by this teaser.

Love Michael. I think he's wonderful for Gaga. But I'm also not happy about the capitalist turn she’s taking with him. It’s nuanced

AFAIK, he does not directly work in AI development. His work is mostly in biotech/medical science.
