Chromanne 2,427
It's funny that people here are acting like Gaga never used autotune while singing or used computer generated production instead of real instruments. People these days like to keep the bar at AI as per their convinience like how conservatives discourage IVF treatments and genetic engineering as "playing God". Apec 115
1 hour ago, Bronco said: The first industrial revolution led to a significant rise in wealth inequality, the establishment of large scale inner-city slums and poverty and destabilised numerous nations causing multiple instances of internal civilian conflict that cost thousands of lives - most notably in France & Russia. It led to massive out breaks of virulence & bacterial disease through pollution as well. The second industrial revolution led to the Long Depression and decimated the agricultural workforce in western nations (which we are now seeing the impact of). And now in the information age we're seeing repeat performances from the first industrial revolution on labour and repeat performances from the second industrial revolution on the economy. The third revolution/information age has been characterised by successive boom & bust cycles to the point that the social order has not been able to recover from the last bust cycle. We've seen the first and now successive generations to lose the social contract since the world wars. Nations are being increasingly destabilised by labour market contractions and the first major rise in in-work poverty since the 1800s. Only someone who's not actually studied socio-economic history would be so confident about how easy technological revolution has been. As somebody who studied Behavioral Economics (Basically the intersection of Sociology, Psychology and Micro+Macro Economics) I couldn't have said it better. I'm so glad we got our Socialist Revolution in between the big Industrial Revolutions in my country but it still couldn't help us enough then, let alone now. Looking favorably at the lasting effects of the first Industrial Revolution is... strange. Just back then: Smog choking entire cities, no agrarian jobs left almost overnight (for farmers whose children knew nothing else), enormous migration to the cities because of my last point, rising ethnic tension because of lack of housing and just space in general in those cities, the pollution our planet is now reacting to, the very idea of workhouses in several countries, hyperinflation in others, political destabilization if not outright Revolutions everywhere, and the big weight around our necks that we've never solved aside from rising temperatures ofc: Incredible Wealth Inequality with the upper classes/upcoming capitalists trying to convince us the Invisible Hand was going to fix everything. We'd never had as much widespread recessions and depressions than in the 1800's. Every negative I just mentioned has widespread reverberations still causing their own trouble now, in the 21st Century. Read fiction of the time even, by say Emile Zola for Paris or Charles Dickens for London (I recommend Zola for his even more unflinching look at what this meant for working men and women), to get the general gist. Is progress something to be against? Not if you carefully analyze what research tells you will happen and take steps that 1) are solid in working out if said negative effects are occurring at the rates predicted/new ones are coming up AND ACT ACCORDINGLY as well as 2) have governments who won't be blindsided and invest in the people (meaning: epecially invest in well-thought-out solutions to other projected unavoidable negative consequences, in people in general by keeping our economies healthy and finally going after those damn bilionaire taxes). Sorry, had to get that off of my chest somehow. And no, I'm not blaming Gaga for an image she probably just vaguely asked for and someone else probably decided AI (it seems to have been analyzed and confirmed as AI) was cheaper - I don't think she's that deep in the decision-making except for her art itself (Mayhem album + MBT we've seen her deep in the details during interviews) but stuff like this? I wouldn't know where she'd have the time imo. Remember she wrote 3 songs for DWP2 after her last Manchester date of the MBT and flew over for her cameo before her Madrid/Barcelona date (my head is glitching rn). This is a very busy woman. Anyhow, please just not be a date! Be a single, the concert film on YouTube (let Apple have the live album). Surprise me in a good way pleaaaaase /whining ends Edited 8 hours ago by Apec 2

Both are still technological advancements aside from the differences.
