Bryan May and Roger Taylor chose him for his freshness and theatrical presence, rather than Marc Martel, who comes across too much as a vocal clone of Freddie. I also find that Martel’s voice is sometimes unsettling, bordering on uncomfortable, because of that resemblance. Also, Lambert’s exuberant personality is much more engaging on stage, not to mention his vocal prowess, which also brings a touch of originality to Queen’s repertoire. And in any case, no one will ever replace Freddie. Especially not a clone. No matter how good he is. He was discovered at American Idol, his Glenn cover of MTN was good, his version of Fever, his guest performances with queen, his collab with Avicii on Lay Me Down... It’s not like he had 0 visibility on the music mainstream scene. This man has a huge vocal talent and yet we don’t talk enough about him. In my peace era.
