I’d rather she just make music with sincerity, and not to solely to “own” critics or provoke people…especially when it’s a **** song (intentionally or not). I’m a fan, but she has a habit of coming off pretentious. This was very pretentious to me.

That is what you said, but that’s still not what I said lol. I never said it was bad, I said it purposefully subverted expectations and leaned into intentional irony in a way that was designed to be provocative and generate a conversation (some of which is predictably reactionary + surface level, some of which is genuinely interesting).  I also don’t really think shitposting or taking the piss is particularly pretentious, I think it’s more or less the musical equivalent of making a layered joke, but to each their own.

This is one of the worst songs of the year and I LOVE IT I hope it goes to #1 because it's terrible and that's just the state of music we're in atm <3

Aside from that, all our pop girlies are RELEASING this year. The quality hasn't been great, but at least we have releases!
