I think she believes in the music she is making but makes it purposefully not to the taste of what people are wanting and wouldn’t mind if it lets her go back to pre brat charli level? does any one know what I’m saying? The whole “the dancefloor is dead, we’re doing rock music” is literally just turning this LCD Soundsystem lyric into a bit and parodying the way artists do a complete 180 and rebrand in response to trends in pop culture: “I hear that you and your band have sold your guitars and bought turntables. The irony of it all is when she FINALLY started becoming truly experimental to even the slightest degree on ARTPOP with genre bending and even some shifts into proper EDM this fanbase HATED it lmao they even dont support her actual diverged albums from just pop music (C2C L4S & Harlequin) whatsoever. On Brat it was abrasive hyper stylised music vs super personal raw lyrics. This time the misdirection is the literalness of having a song called "Rock Music" vs a sound that slips that label. The literalness is the joke, but the song commits to the feeling of a rock song anyway. Plus the reference you noted.
