I see where you’re coming from, but what I think is funny about this is that it’s kind of perfectly calibrated to generate a shitstorm. She talks about doing “rock music,” incredulity, mild uproar, gatekeeping etc. releases a teaser saying the song is called “rock music” and it’s her and AG (signaling it’s not going to be traditional rock, if rock at all), then it comes out and the genrephiles pour over the ways it is and isn’t rock, the self-serious rock critics roll their eyes, a lot of the GP is confused the clash in and style and the genre.
