The best interpretation/ handling of a mary sue character I've ever seen, i think. It's like an 8 hour late 90s "chick flick" with 2026 sensibilities, and not like in a preachy way. It's stupid, its fun, it's actually very sincere. I would stop the program and say "well, why is this a plot point, this doesn't really make sense" and then it hits me, "oh yeahhh I could totally see it in a romcom from that period". Also I jumped right in, without rewatching the films and it really didn't affect my viewing experience at all. Again people it's FUN, I was walking into it thinking it would endup being like the PLL remake (derogatory) aiming to be very gritty and yass mama and too self referential. Nope it knows what it is and what it's aiming too be, yes it's cliche in points which is really satisfying, but it's not slop. You can tell actual care went into making this to not make it just a cash grab. And my god hair and makeup deserve all the awards the hair styles on that girl were so cute. This show made feel real good y'all They setup another season and I don't really remember the lore from the original but I don't know how on earth would they fill some other 7 hours. I guess if this ended up a big success season 2 would be her sophomore year and a third would act as a final season with her as a senior right before the events of the original film.
