The lyrics and the melody sound so shoehorned over that beat. At this point I'm convinced they're doing some weird A/B testing and you guys are listening to a different version of the song. Are you sure you're not listening to Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran?

Are you sure you're not listening to Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran? I feel that way but about the people who like it, tbh lmao. That hobbling melody over that flat, wet beat that trudges forward into an insanely repetitive chorus. Not to mention the mixed metaphors and relative aimlessness of the lyrics themselves. Fine for a demo/outtake, but for a fully released track? Methinks not, sistren. The transcendence of the post-chorus The pulsing synth in the second half of the song The angelic background vocals contrasting the grit of the main vocal The lyrics perfectly convey that longing for a woman who is no longer in your reach It's also interesting how you call the chorus repetitive while in this thread you defended a song that repeats the phrase "I'd kill for love" for the entire second half of the song

The post chorus is incredibly repetitive and not particularly melodically interesting. The lyrics, while I understand what she’s trying to convey, include a lot of really sloppy mixed metaphors, are rhythmically overstuffed, there’s nothing punchy or memorable about them, and they’re slapped over a meandering and forgettable melody. Also KFL, for as repetitive as *parts* of it are, isn’t literally just saying “Shape of a Woman” over and over again over a drab melody (not to mention the lyrical phrasing and the catchiness of the melody absolutely mops SOAW across the board). ”Tonigh, I won’t wear my disguise, I’m about to take you by surprise, you’ll be start of my demise, I’d kill for you. You can’t escape my grip tonight, I won’t go home without a fight, already whet my appetite” alone blows all of the lyricism on SOAW out of the water. Tight, concise, punchy, catchy, builds effectively towards the hook. Ended ha.
