This is garbage. IDK why Madonna's vocals have been mixed so poorly ever since Hard Candy with so many obnoxious effects, it's like the people she works with forgot how to do basic **** or Madonna actually thinks it makes her sound better. Never was this promised to be the same sound, and that never should have been expected. That is not why this is Confessions II. This being Confessions II doesn’t mean it’s going to be the same kind of dance music as the original. It’s Madonna, she never actually repeats. Now that we have two songs from the record I think it’s very clear she’s doing a different dance sub-genre (in this case primarily house influenced rather than nu disco influenced) but is covering similar thematic ground. The first Confessions is an album about reflection. Reflection on relationships, beliefs, one’s self, and her career. These two songs both deal in reflection as well, and tonally are very in line with the first record, just using a different soundscape to do explore that in. It’s extremely Confessions. A sequel does not mean just doing the same thing over. I don’t know why anybody expected that when it has NEVER been her mo. I think she (sadly wrongly) thought people would be smart enough to see what the connection point between the two records is, and it’s certainly not and was never going to be sound. It was always going to be the thematic content of the record itself and the context of the record in her career. On the latter point, this is a PERFECT one-to-one on what the first Confessions represented in Madonna’s discography. The conditions that created the original are identical to the conditions thar created this one. Edited May 1 by Future Lovers 4

Killa 18,525
Takes 2 minutes to sound decent. Its not the same of coachella. Even the vocals were Better. These vocals are muddy, completely altered chopped etc. The Song had so much potential

These two songs both deal in reflection as well, and tonally are very in line with the first record, just using a different soundscape to do explore that in. It’s extremely Confessions. A sequel does not mean just doing the same thing over. The concept of sequel is to at least putting something familiar to it that signify it's the continuation of the past project. A sequel usually does include familiar elements; returning settings, themes, or even stylistic choices, so the audience recognizes it as a continuation. A good sequel balances both: it feels connected, but also moves things forward in a meaningful way. To put it as examples: for movie, look at Nolan's Batman I think nobody expect the exact same sound. But from 2 out of 2 songs so far, this is a whole different album, nothing that reminiscent of the og, but the album title and people who produce it. And in this case, I liken it to Highlander and The mask and SOn Of The Mask. The former two is almost the textbook case. The first movie is a mystical fantasy about immortals; the sequel suddenly turns it into a sci-fi story involving aliens and a dystopian Earth. It rewrites core lore so drastically that it barely feels connected. And the latter, although got the same concept (the magical mask), but the tone and execution are wildly different. The original leaned on Jim Carrey’s performance and had a certain edgy humor; the sequel feels more like a chaotic kids’ cartoon and drops what made the first one work. And unsurprisingly, both sequels failed cos the core audience can't feel connected to it. Another example includes Cloverfield & 10 Cloverfield Lane. Fans of the first one have expectations that made them fans in the first place. and 10 CLoverfield Lane is so different, it becomes so divisive within the fnabase. MountainMonster 1,867
I have something to talk about… it’s that it’s not very good. Makes me appreciate all three DWP2 tracks even more. it’s fine… but is this the “lead?” If not, by the time the “lead” single is released we will have 20% of the album and none of it is particularly notable, which is a shame because Confessions is truly an incredible album, and all its singles were pretty phenomenal. I understand that it’s not Confessions, it’s Confessions 2 - but could you imagine if we got BTW 2 and it was a substantial departure from the original? We’d be burning the world down in here.
