Ngl I don’t really see it being in line with the disco songs on MAYHEM (coming from someone who loves ZB, KFL etc). The percussion is flat (don’t know why they went with those heavy, wet sounding kicks and snares in the verses), the instrumental feels both too densely packed and yet lacking detail/specificity, the lyrics are pretty scattershot, and I feel like it lacks the vibrancy and drive of a lot of the disco tracks on MAYHEM. The melody and lyrics of the verses feel kind of improvised and I just feel like it doesn’t end up going anywhere. Shame ‘cause I love the disco cuts on MAYHEM and was looking forward to this one, but GL and the Runway vid are my TDWP2 mini-era fix.

Frankly, I just don't see it like that  I understand what you're saying about the production in the verses; it does feel kind of empty aside from the "heavy, wet sounding kicks," but it doesn't bother me. Lyrically, I think it's in line with most of MAYHEM tbh. I've said it before, but lyrically, MAYHEM is nowhere near her best work. SOAW says nothing groundbreaking, but I don't think it was meant to. It's the same "fun" vibe as the rest of the album.

As for it "not going anywhere," I can kinda relate to that with Enigma  I don't dislike that song, but the production does nothing for me. Similarly, I feel like the song goes nowhere. Even her vocals don't really do anything for me I just didn't f*ck with the melody, whereas I think the melody in SOAW is very catchy.

After all the negative reviews, I didn't expect much, but was actually very positively surprised. Shape Of A Woman really is a bop

It is a bop. Not BR level, but a cute 7 or 8. Mayhem has way weaker songs. For me Glamorous Life takes the crown easily of this mini era, Runway is still a flop as song, but the video at least is very good

I finally heard it right now in full and I'm like... idk how to feel! I like it and dislike it, and I think it's interesting and different for Gaga while also being not different... so I think I love it! Will have to listen a few more times + once actually with AM quality

it feels like an outtake that actually was released as a single, with proper production but still feels a little outtake-y... idk!! It's growing on me more, hope it becomes a smash hit
