What I mean is that it has a simplistic meaning with vague lyrics so listeners can project their own struggles onto the song and their own inner demons. There aren't really any specific references in the lyrics to any specific inner demons Gaga has and the ways in which the entity that can cure them will do it are also vague and non specific. That’s true, but Gaga has also pretty consistently used sex as a metaphor throughout her career (Poker Face, DWUW, Aura etc). It’s not that it’s *not* sexual so much as I think that the sexuality isn’t necessarily sole or defining factor. In the vid, for example, she depicts the Mistress torturing her in a bondage scene, which I think is the perfect reflection of the way that the sexuality in the song is a sublimation for emotional/psychological pain. I interpret as the dark side of you beckoning you back into bad habits when you're at a low... almost like inviting you to your own death because the "cure" to the disease would just be ending it all... at least I get that vibe from "lay you down...eyes roll back in ecstasy". I also immediately thought it also could be about drugs/alcohol as a poor coping skill and being how the cure the disease... "smell your sickness" reminds me of a specific substance lol. Overall I think it is a dark song about ultimately wanting to feel okay but stuck in a conversation or battle with the part of you that wants you to do bad things.
