Romania debuts 'Via Danubiana': nature trail connecting Danube sites

The MaiMultVerde Association announces the completion of the marking of the Via Danubiana ecotourism trail in Teleorman County and the launch of the Via Danubiana Traveler’s Guide for Teleorman. 

Via Danubiana is an initiative of the MaiMultVerde Association aimed at creating a 1,075-kilometer ecotourism trail along the Danube, from Baziaș to Sulina, through the twelve Danube-adjacent counties, with the goal of integrating it into the EuroVelo 6 route, which connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea.

Since the Danube passes through numerous protected natural areas and sensitive habitats, the project emphasizes balancing access and conservation and promotes slow, non-intrusive tourism.

The trail is marked with discreet signs and indicators, placed on existing roads—on dikes, near the water, or through natural areas—and is designed to be explored on foot, by bicycle, or by kayak.
