Gaga cancels tonight's show

I don’t know if it’s because she canceled a few more hours before the show than the one in Miami but the reaction has been way more civilized considering she fully canceled this show. Can’t help to wonder if it’s because Canadians vs Americans

What a bummer that this had to happen a mere 4 shows before it was going to end on 100% completion. I don't understand why it can't be rescheduled, it's just one date. Granted, knowing where you're going to do the last show is a big deal but then it makes the rescheduled one all the more special. Wonder if any fans could get any last minute tickets to the NYC one? Oh well, at least she's already hit her record of her biggest selling tour. Just a shame it won't be quite as spectacular as it could've been. 

Think it’s more to do with the fact she broke her hip there (well not really but it was the final straw)

The arena is probably booked, and crew availability may also vary after the last set date. Everyone is probably under contract and it will most likely end right after NYC dates

I totally understand that an illness is a human incident and I wish her the smoothest recovery, but I can’t help but feel a certain tinge of bitterness after two last minute cancellation/postponement announcements like this in Montreal. First with Joanne and now this. 
 

I’ll get over it though.

It helps that she cancelled hours in advance and not literally after the show was supposed to start.

Like, the money and time it would have saved me had she postponed that Miami show the night before or even the morning of instead of the very last minute  and I'm sure I'm not the only one  

I'm not bitter about it anymore but wooo at the time I was ready to call it quits on ever seeing her again tbh.

The Montreal Joanne Tour date was postponed a few months due to a respiratory infection

And we can't forget her cancelling the remaining Born This Way Ball dates after the Montreal show  

And now N3 of the Mayhem Ball is cancelled due to a respiratory infection

Keep her away from these cities

From my understanding of how tours operate (based on knowledge from friends of mine who tour on a much smaller scale lol):

She is "loaned" (if that is the correct term for here) a certain amount she must pay back to the company that is helping her tour, which is LiveNation in this case I'm assuming. With how much she has made already and her existing bank balance, I think completely writing off one or two dates isn't going to affect her ability to pay for this tour. I completely agree with you that Miami N3 would have been scrapped entirely but they managed to make it work with the newly added leg (Which they most likely knew about already). With the last show in Montreal, she could have rescheduled for a date available before April 13th so that the tour would end in NYC, and I'll bet money she was trying to find an available date before cancelling the show. The latter would have been to pick a new date after the 13th, which would have also extended the contract length for hundreds of people involved in making the tour happen. 

I also just checked the Bell Centre's event calendar and they only have available dates when she is set to be in St Paul. As much as I know she loves her fans, I respectfully assume she is beyond exhausted at this point in the tour and I can't imagine the stress she must be feeling getting sick so close to the end of a tour. She most likely tried to see if there was going to be a chance she could return for a make-up, but ultimately decided to accept the suck of the situation and will still give her entire best for the remaining shows.

Lets also not forget that this tour has been monumental for her and she has absolutely crushed every show she has done so far.

I checked the Belle Centre calendar and theres no way she could fit a new date in before April 13th. And re-drafting hundreds of contracts to extend the tour like a week at most probably isn't feasible

sorry but her tours should be spaced out way more 

of course want her to get better but every tour she seems to cancel several shows..... its not fair to those who spend so much to see her, if they have resentment towards her it would be justified. shes clearly vulnerable health wise, this kind of touring schedule does not work for her

its not an isolated event either, gaga cancels shows more than most of her peers do... so she needs to be strategic about it, maybe do stadiums and do a show every 2-3 weeks, so if she gets sick she has time to do antibiotcs and recover ......

But what's the thing with her announcing/releasing singles and getting sick/having vocal problems at the same time. Is this just a bad luck? Isn't she rehersing too much?

We know she has health issues and she has spoken about her markers for auto-immune issues being whack at times... As someone who has similar health issues and also sings (not nearly as good as her lol), tension in the larynx from actual sickness can not always be identified early if you are experiencing tension from just overuse and stress. We know she rehearses each show, and she most likely spends a long time warming up her voice for each show. Vocal warmups are really helpful for identifying an issue going on in the voice... so I'm wondering if she maybe downplayed the symptoms of an infection and just chopped it up to tension because she has been busy and on the road. In this case- you can really push yourself pretty far before suddenly just destroying your voice. Knowing how hard she fights to do these shows, this is my best guess what maybe happened. She was already straining and they just didn't realize what was causing it until it got bad fast.

I'm a couple hours' drive away from Miami but I will literally fly out to another state to see her before I step foot in that f*ckass city again
