Why I Don’t Like BOG

It's a downer sounding. It's a song about her engagement, but it sounds like somebody just died or something.

I don't mind the slowness of it all, but the melancholy is a bit much.

Like I said in a previous thread, most people don't like it because it sounds like a Coldplay/Imagine Dragons type song (...corny). LOL

And if I'm being honest it's not something I listen to regularly, but I like it for how beautiful the instrumental sounds, and I find the blade of grass symbolism to be poetic. I get both sides.

Basically how I feel, tbh. I think it’s a well-written song, I appreciate how much it means to her, but to paraphrase the Swiftologist’s reaction to it: “I’m glad that happened to you, but what the hell does that have to do with me?”

I love it lyrically but the production and vocals are like "something horrible happened to me, I'm in so much emotional pain and idk how to deal" rather than "Im celebrating finding the love of my life after overcoming emotional hardships" :max:

If she had a pleasant vocal delivery like idk Million reasons, Just another day or That's life with a similar production style, it would be kinda a great precursor to DWAS, but it suffers from the same issues as Dope, Till it happens to you and Shallow where she's just destroying her beautiful voice.

Agreed that it's corny and overly melancholic/melodramatic, but also... I can't stop thinking of it as "like a blade of around that finger up my ass" and now I can't take it seriously at all

Also, I don't like Gaga's vocals and enunciation. I think it would be better if it were a little faster and less mellow.

I feel like it's one of those songs people will look back on and relate to someday. :nick:

For me, I can relate it to how loyal I can be to all the people I appreciate in my life, because the soup base about being lonely, having someone lift you back up and heal from things speaks to me. "Wrap the blade of grass and we'll make it last." LOL

I can relate to it more broadly for sure (feeling haunted by your past, valuing the people in your life that are your support network), I just think the metaphor is a little too niche/specific to her life.

I get that, but I feel like it sounding like a dirge does fit the vibe she was going for (someone somberly and reluctantly accepting a proposal from someone they love in spite of overwhelming fears that it won’t work out). I still don’t *love* it, but I think it being the way that it is makes sense

Slap that big fat ass across my face and blow some gas ‘cause even if your hole is loose, I don’t mind tasting your delicious juice, I’ve been so horny, make me squeal, let me turn your peach into a meal, come on I’ll wear your big fat ass like a COVID mask…

Thisssssss

I love when songs sound happy even though the lyrics are sad. But the other way around..?

The song is about something happy and romantic and yet it sounds like she’s deeply traumatized for whatever reason

I think it sounds like a dirge because it’s an expression of her being afraid of opening herself up to love again, choosing to do so, but also still feeling all of the raw pain of the hurt she’s gone through in her past. Although it’s not the exactly the same, I remember when I realized that I was in love for the first time in a deep way, it was actually painful because I was afraid that I would lose it again and even thinking about admitting how much he mattered to me was overwhelming, so I feel like that’s kind of where’s she’s at in the song. She’s trying to feel hopeful in spite of herself.
