I do think we’ll see artists follow the Olivia Dean textbook however. In the uk it feels like everyone and their nan listens to her, everyone at work knows every song including deep cuts

Ns but why LOL like they’re nice songs but I’m not getting how they stick with someone and I am not even a hater to that kind of pop!

I think we're living in a time now which is post-pop music, post-genre, post-trends. Everybody has access to everything all the time, and every individual chooses their own tastes and has their own 'bubble' of music they listen to. Artists also don't try to stick to genres anymore and just do their own thing. The ones who are trying to make 'pop' music are kind of just attempting to recreate what has been done before. The system of pop music trends that defined past decades was born out of innovation and the development of technology paired with radio still being the only way to become truly popular. We're past all of that now, anyone with talent and passion can make music on their computer at home, and anyone can listen to anything anywhere without relying on radio to present it to them or the sharing of physical media to grow underground niches. It's a weird place in music now where music just.. is

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

The way I interpret it is like pressing shuffle on your iPod in the 2000s. It’s a mixture of all the music that MySpace artists were making and putting in their pages. A mixture/accumulation of high’s and lows. Electronica & acoustic. Clash and damn near screamo. Idk if that made sense at all lol

Oh ok, that totally makes sense!
