Laxy 388
Her new pop album under 40 minutes is also very boring lol. Buildups that lead to nowhere. An exercise in unnecessary and unwanted restraint.

Junko Enoshima 4,573
I agree with her if she means Taylor type pop or an album filled with bad songs just to inflate numbers My boobs are hopelessly huge
dubstep111 772
I agree I was so excited for the new Melanie Martinez album because of how many songs there were, but it ended up being very boring. Actually, way too many slow songs.
Bronco 25,070
I think she's right to an extent. Albums definitely suffer with bloat these days. And for a pop-dance song, the longer it gets the less it tends to work because its often just a standard pop song being unnaturally extended with repetitive beats. Like how many "extended" pop dance tracks are just looped intros or delayed outros on a 3 minute track. Certain albums and styles suit longer cuts. Especially in rock music where the magic of the genre is in the riffs and the solos. But in pop, the magic is often the variety and the longer it takes to switch it up can be a negative The gays know how to party

elijahfan 27,484
I definitely hear what she's saying. While I don't necessarily find long pop albums boring when they're consistently good (hello Born This Way), they can be a little exhausting. There's definitely something unique and memorable when things are tightened to 10 or less songs. I just wish Robyn stopped taking 10 years in between records Several of my favorite records are actually quite short: The Fame Monster, t.A.T.u.'s 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane and pretty much all of Goldfrapp's albums, for instance. It doesn't take a lot of songs to make a lasting impression. Edited March 28 by elijahfan
MythicBone 4
I typically ask “What is best for the song”? Some tracks overstay their welcome and some exit too soon. It can be difficult to balance across an entire project, but at the end of the day, the artist should make what feels right. Not what’s expected. stevana229 1,916
I agree with this.... so many pop albums have SOOOO much filler. it's so easy to point out which songs were meant to be singles 1
Wolf Boy 3,581
I mean, id rather a 9 track perfect album than an 18 track filler album.
