It tells HBO that you're interested and that you would like to see more - which probably means you're inclined to keep your subscription going. Thus more money gets invested, in hopes to retain viewership. In an ideal world where EVERYONE boycotts the show, it would not get greenlit for following seasons. More realistically though, if the show doesn't meet viewership expectations it will get less budget in following years and thus JK will profit less. 1

Well I dont want it to be cancelled, since I love Harry Potter. So while it is your ideal world, I am able to separate JKs views from my love for Harry Potter as a story and universe 2

Harry Potter has been that for a long time for me as well and I'm sad that it lost that magic for me (pun unintended). I'm genuinely not trying to tell you what you should do or trying to guilt you. The facts have been on the table for a while and everyone can make that choice for themselves. But an argument like 'I already payed my subscription so it doesn't matter' is just false logic. I understand what you are saying, and I mostly agree with you. But people saying “if you are watching this you support Transphobia or it makes you a transphobe”, really bothers me, and those are just as false logic. And to be honest, it is quite easy to blame people watching and trying to make them feel guilty, but I hope you also understand that most of us, at least myself, are not agreeing with any of the things JK Rowling did related to trans people. It would be best if she wasn’t part of this. But it almost feels like we are blamed for loving a series that helped us grow up, for me being the first series I read a was a fan of with the movies. You cant blame people for wanting more of that universe they love so dearly

You cant blame people for wanting more of that universe they love so dearly then you could make the effort to pirate it, if you really want to separate it from JK supporting it is supporting transphobia and yes, you have to let these things go if trans rights matter to you you should feel bothered by that because it is true and if you find giving up harry potter more upsetting than the way JK has treated the trans community, that just speaks volumes about you Edited April 2 by nATAH mother, what must i do?

This argument also doesn't completely sit right with me, but there is truth to it. It's not black and white. I'm assuming that most people in this thread are not transphobic, or at the very least don't want to actively hurt the trans community. But there are a lot of complicated feelings involved with this franchise, as it helped a lot of people (including trans people) through very difficult times in their lives. That attachment doesn't just disappear. That said, it is a fact part of the proceeds of this show wil benefit a transphobe. A very influential transphobe who has actively vowed to use those proceeds for damaging ends. That doesn't just disappear either, even when mentally separating art from artist. It has very real consequences for real people. But we should also remember the real villain. It's Rowling who is actively targeting a vulnerable minority from a position of power. Most of us in this thread don't have bad intentions and just want to cope and survive in a difficult world. That said: pirating this show is a perfect morally gray solution for your situation.
