Besides: when there are ways to watch without supporting, why not just do that? We, as a community, gotta start walking the walk again when it comes to standing up to bs And I totally agree with you, I mean, I'm boycotting Dr. Luke's songs and there are a lot of songs I like.. but I do sometimes wonder, like what my post actually meant, if boycotting is actually making a change? When I die, they world will move forward, my small, very small, impact, would be forgotten, and these assholes will continue to be rich. 43 minutes ago, Leography said: If you watch this legally, you ACTIVELY funds anti-trans actions. And given the kind of people in the big party, I'd rather be outside of it, thank you very much. "Nobody actually cares" is such a wild, evil, disgusting thing to say. On a LADY GAGA FORUM of all places. Some of us have consciences Jesus. Like I don't know that ffs I didn't say that I'm going to watch this, because I won't, I just expressed my feeling about the idea of boycotting that at the end, they will win either way. I'm tired of people who can't f*cking read between the lines and f*cking think, every single day here. "on a lady Gaga forum", sis I'm a mod, and trust me, nobody is here is a saint.. the moral compass of everyone here always depends on their favorite artist. and "nobody cares", is about everyone else who's not pro-trans, which is the majority of people, it's a fact. elon, jk, all these assholes, worked day and night to fulfill this. Plus w her antics in the past decade, it's all just one big ick. Curious to see how it does but tbh I don't see this taking off when it doesn't offer anything new and there's already a lot of controversy surrounding it (and hopefully so ) The only good thing about it imo is that it will have more time to go into details. If I remember correctly, it wil lbe 7 seasons of around 8 episodes, with each episode lasting around 52 mins

Your initial post certainly doesn't convey the same intentions as this answer. Especially with referring to it as a big party. But maybe it's just because english isn't my first langage and I'm usually terrible at reading social cues. Or maybe it's because I'm tired of being angry all the goddamn time at other people's selfishness, that I come in too hot. But I'm glad we're on the same page then. As for the other people here, I've seen some stuff yeah, I know this isn't the safe space it should be. But it doesn't mean I will stop being surprised when Gaga fans don't care about equality and social justice, or worse are openly transphobic/racist/you name it.

PornoDanceFight 1,170
Never mind that JKR uses any and all profits from her mediocre fantasy series to fund anti-trans initiatives, who is this for? What 10-year-old is going to stay up Sunday nights until 9 or 10 PM to watch this? The fact that users here are actually excited about this??? NURRRRSSSSSEEEEEEE! codymonster 8,772
I’m sorry, but Harry Potter completely ignited my love for reading, fantasy worlds and creativity. The characters and the story mean so much to me. The creator is an ass, but so are the majority of Hollywood. I respect peoples’ choices either way, but I’m very excited for this I always hated how SO much was cut from the books, so excited to see a more fleshed out visual for the series!! I love u more and I care, I didn’t say that I don’t, or that I’m going to watch it, I won’t , I didn’t even watch the trailer and I’m not planning to watch it. Taking the step away from HP was tough, really, it’s more than nostalgia, it was a safe place during difficult times for me. But I did it, as a gay person, as an activist, as an activist who puts trans rights before my gay rights. My post was simply me feeling broken that no matter what we will do, these horrible people will continue to be rich and many people, including allies and members of our community , will support their products. I’m boycotting too much honestly, it’s tough but I just can’t support bad people .. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

There's just no way to condense such massive books into 2,5 hour features. When it comes to this show, I have greater hopes and anticipation for the second half of the series. I believe "nobody actually cares" wasn't meant as "shut up and move on" it was meant as "We can boycott it but it feels like boycotting it doesn't do anything because the general public will still support it so us boycotting it has no tangible impact". 2 hours ago, gagzus said: The point was most of the cast distanced themselves from Harry Potter in general and stopped being associated with events, anniversaries etc to do with it because of JK’s transphobic views so she sold the rights to have it remade so she doesn’t have to write another book again lol Rowling had already sold the rights. When she initially sold them she hung onto a lot of control over how Harry Potter as a franchise would be handled (as any artist should). She approved Fantastic Beasts, which flopped, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is an ego thing so she can say the world she built is still relevant 2 hours ago, gagzus said: Funnily enough the ONLY backlash from the fanbase has been about them having a black snape and a slightly tanned (even though she’s white still) Hermione. British fans are horrid, as a British person the amount of racism we have is astounding but what’s worse is unlike America where it’s pretty black and white now of who is racist and who isn’t. British people act like racism is grey. Even our nicknames for cultural food or convenience stores is racist. But it’s accepted as being not by the population. For example, people dont see the racism behind our current immigration views, where as in America they’re pretty black and white about their racist immigrant views. Having a black Snape makes a lot less sense when you look at what his character goes through throughout the books. Poor, greasy, gets hung on a tree by James, etc. Being mindful of diversity and wanting to include it is amazing and as it should be but he's the only character associated with black stereotypes. It counteracts the entire idea of diversity in stories. Hermione, McGonagall, Dumbledore, etc could have all been black and it would have been okay. Hermione as a black character could have elevated the role of PoC in films so much better than a grey character like Snape that not only had a very clear description written out but also stereotypes commonly used to put down black people. And might I add that in the first book Snape is accused by Harry of attempting to steal the philosophers stone and Harry's rationale was "just a feeling". The reason the Brits can claim ignorance and deny being racist is because of America's blatant racism. It's the entire idea of racism reshaped. "We're not them, we don't do x y z" to excuse poor behavior and covert racism.
