Such a shame that this is going to make so much money to JKR and who knows what she’s going to do with all of that. :air:

It looks really good and it’s HBO so they’re most likely going to do a great job with it.

Ye I was pleasantly surprised tbh. I rly dig the quirky, almost rustic fantasy aesthetic, and the kids already seem to have great chemistry and personality - especially Ron. Looking forwards to this.

I'm fine, Ta

this is the problem with boycotting rich people like her and big corps... they will earn money and will remain rich anyway, so what's the point in boycotting them or their products, when in reality, deep down, despite her fight against trans people, everyone who hates her is eager to watch this, either from curiosity or because they are or were fans of HP and it's the same for anything else.. boycotting is only causing u to be outside of the big party, because nobody actually cares

Just to be clear: I'm not going to watch this, I'm just expressing my disappointment with how boycotting these people is not really impacting them or changing anything, which it should, but we live in such a bigot world that people cares more about a harry potter tv show than trans rights..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

If you watch this legally, you ACTIVELY funds anti-trans actions. She was very transparent about what she's doing with her money. So yeah, I'd rather be outside the "big party" rather than help harm my already oppressed community. And given the kind of people in the big party, I'd rather be outside of it, thank you very much.

"Nobody actually cares" is such a wild, evil, disgusting thing to say. On a LADY GAGA FORUM of all places. Some of us have consciences Jesus.

15 less dollars is 15 less dollars going to anti-trans initiatives per person with good enough morals and a strong enough backbone to commit.

Besides: when there are ways to watch without supporting, why not just do that? We, as a community, gotta start walking the walk again when it comes to standing up to bs

It looks......just like the movies :green:

The cinematography, sets, actors (aside from Snape) are so similar to the OG films that I truly do not understand the point of this other than a cash grab. Plus w her antics in the past decade, it's all just one big ick.

Curious to see how it does but tbh I don't see this taking off when it doesn't offer anything new and there's already a lot of controversy surrounding it (and hopefully so :huntyga: )

The point was most of the cast distanced themselves from Harry Potter in general and stopped being associated with events, anniversaries etc to do with it because of JK’s transphobic views so she sold the rights to have it remade so she doesn’t have to write another book again lol

Horny Chicken

The characters appear to be quite different than the movie’s interpretation so I think this will allow the series to have its own identity. But black Snape? Doesn’t he get bullied by 4 white kids and then hung from a tree?

Just based on her morals I won’t support this and everyone involved has sacrificed their morals for a cheque. Remember Keira Knightley’s reaction… and that was JUST for an audiobook… yeah **** those people

Funnily enough the ONLY backlash from the fanbase has been about them having a black snape and a slightly tanned (even though she’s white still) Hermione.

British fans are horrid, as a British person the amount of racism we have is astounding but what’s worse is unlike America where it’s pretty black and white now of who is racist and who isn’t. British people act like racism is grey. Even our nicknames for cultural food or convenience stores is racist. But it’s accepted as being not by the population.

For example, people dont see the racism behind our current immigration views, where as in America they’re pretty black and white about their racist immigrant views.

Even so, with the theme parks, stores, books, merch, etc. raking in so much money, a new film/series was so unnecessary. They won't be able to recreate the love of the original cast, so if that was their thinking it's flat out dumb - lighting doesn't strike twice.

I think she thinks that because it was so long ago there’s a whole generation to influence again with it. Plus I can’t remember where but I’m sure after she started being transphobic her net worth dropped by like 10% in a year.

I have to agree... and this confirms my initial doubts when this show was announced. The original movies are still a staple that newer generations are watching and enjoying, it hasn't really got to a point where it feels like an old, dated thing that would need an update to connect with a young audience.

Other than having much more material from the books being adapted, there really isn't any good reason that warrants this show imo.
